The area is abundant with an array of uniquely adapted wildlife such as Hartmann’s mountain zebras – one of the rarest sub-species of zebras in the world.  Other wildlife includes giraffes, oryx, springbok, elephants, and black rhinos. Damaraland’s wildlife has evolved remarkable adaptations to survive in extreme conditions.

Vegetation

Grasses and drought-resistant shrubs like commiphora also dot the rocky terrain, sustaining herbivores such as desert-adapted elephants and zebras.
