Most people don’t know this
But Monsoons are quite literally the best time to go on a safari!
While several National Parks are closed during this season, but some hidden gems remain open. Monsoons actually offer a unique and captivating perspective on India’s wildlife – BUT only if you know where to look.
3 lesser known facts about monsoon safaris –
1- Tiger & Leopard Activity
Tigers tend to be very active during monsoon months as they need to constantly remark their territories, as the scent markings are washed away by the rains. And leopards prefer the dense foliage to hunt their prey and move in silence on the moist forest floor – which is otherwise full of dry leaves, announcing the leopard’s presence.
2- The Season of Plenty
Monsoon jungles are lush green, with signs of new life everywhere. The birding experience is just phenomenal due the the bout of insect life. This season is also the best time to spot snakes, reptiles, and amphibians.
3- The Scope for Photography
As the jungle is bursting with the spirit of revival and life, the photography experience during monsoons safaris is simply unmatched. Just imagine- each image turning out with a clear subject, a lush green background, and no human disturbance! The lighting is diffused throughout the day, making sure that even afternoons which otherwise have harsh light conditions – now produce the perfect shot.
