Spotted Deer | Ameliya Safaris

Day 1: Arrival and Overnight in New Delhi

  • Your journey begins as you arrive at Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi – the bustling capital of India and the gateway to your wilderness adventure.
  • Upon arrival, you will be met by your chauffeur at exit and transferred to your hotel. After checking in, take time to rest and recover from your journey.
  • Standard check-in time is 15:00 hrs and check-out time is 11:00 hrs. Special requests subject to availability.

Day 2 - Drive from Delhi to Corbett National Park (5 hrs)

  • After enjoying a hearty breakfast at your hotel, begin your road journey towards the foothills of Himalayas – to Corbett National Park which will take approximately 5 hrs depending on traffic, road conditions and the number of stops you wish to take.
  • As the city disappears, the landscape slowly transforms – the life & everyday rhythms rural India come to view – agricultural fields, small towns and villages, mixed with forest patches, and the rolling hills that eventually lead towards the wilderness of Corbett National Park.
  • Arriving at your lodge, settle into your rooms, and enjoy a relaxed lunch before taking time to unwind in the lap of nature. This is also a great time to observe birds from the pool or sit at the wildlife hide.
  • In the evening, meet your guide/naturalist who will give you a short briefing about the park, share the day to day activities, understand your interests and what you hope to experience during your time in the jungles of India. If you are into photography, birding, culture & community, or simply want to experience the silence of the forest, your guide will tailor the safaris around you.
  • Chef crafted dinner at the lodge followed by an early call to bed – as early morning adventures await!

Day 3 to 5 - Morning & Evening Safaris in Corbett National Park

  • Your days begin with a very early wake up call – about an hour before sunrise. Followed by a warm cup of tea or coffee along with cookies and fruits before setting out for your morning safari – departing ahead of the national park timings to ensure you are among the first vehicles entering the park gates.
  • Every safari with Ameliya is private & exclusive. You will not be sharing the vehicle with any other guests or strangers. You will have the full 4×4 open top safari jeep to yourself (Maruti Gypsy or equivalent) along with your guide/naturalist and mandatory appointed Forest Department guide. Our team thoughtfully pre-selects safari zones in advance, guided by on-ground research and local expertise, to maximise the quality of every wildlife experience
  • As you enter the park at sunrise, witness your surroundings come alive with the cacophony of birds. Your guide will share insights into the history of the park, identify key trees and plants, and help you spot and interpret wildlife behaviour. You will also learn to read the forest through tracks and signs, and understand the subtle language of alarm calls and distress signals that reveal the presence of predators nearby. Throughout your safaris, be sure to communicate your needs and preferences to your guide and ask them as many questions as you can.
  • Your jeep will be stocked up with hot coffee, tea, cookies and fresh drinking water. Return back to the lodge by late morning – where the team awaits with cold towels and welcome drinks.
  • Enjoy a hot breakfast at camp followed by your siesta time – a chance to unwind, relax read a book, sit at the hide or simply be.

Day 3 to 5 - continued

  • After lunch, you will leave for an afternoon safari which offers a completely different forest – waterholes become active with birds and herbivores during the heat of day, and chances of big cat activity increase as the sun starts to dip and weather begins to cool down. The evening safari ends at sunset and you drive back to your camp/lodge reminiscing the day – because every safari leaves behind a memory that lasts much longer than the sightings themselves.
  • Enjoy the warmth of a fire as you meet like minded travelers in the camp/lodge and share stories of they day followed by a chef crafted dinner.

Day 6 - Farewell to the Foothills of Himalayas

  • Enjoy a hot breakfast at your lodge, soaking in the final hours of your time in the jungles of India. Bid farewell to your safari family at the lodge and depart for New Delhi International Airport (taking approximately 5-6 hours). We advise booking a flight out of Delhi that departs after 18:00 / 6:00 PM so you have ample time for your road transfer.
  • You can also chose to spend an additional night in Delhi. If you wish to do so, please let us know so we can book in time and advise you of the additional costs.
  • End of trip. (Or perhaps just the beginning.) We strongly recommend booking your next safari with us before the withdrawal symptoms begin.
