Day - Wise Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and Overnight in New Delhi
- Your journey begins as you arrive at Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi – the bustling capital of India and the gateway to your wilderness adventure.
- Upon arrival, you will be met by your chauffeur at exit and transferred to your hotel.
- After checking in, take time to rest and recover from your journey.
- Standard check-in time is 15:00 hrs and check-out time is 11:00 hrs. Special requests subject to availability.
Day 2: Delhi to Bhopal Flight (1 hr) & drive to Satpura National Park (3 hr)
- After enjoying a hearty breakfast at your hotel, transfer to the New Delhi Domestic Airport. Our team will update you about the transfer timings & driver details. Fly from New Delhi to Bhopal in Central India (1.5 hrs).
- At arrival, after collecting your bags you will be met by a chauffeur at the exit. They will transfer you to your camp/lodge in Satpura National Park which will take approximately 3.5-hours.
- As the city disappears, the landscape slowly transforms – the life & everyday rhythms rural India come to view – agricultural fields, small towns and villages, mixed with forest patches, and the rolling hills that eventually lead towards the wilderness of Satpura National Park.
- Arriving at your lodge, settle into your surroundings and enjoy a relaxed lunch before taking time to unwind.
- In the afternoon meet your guide/naturalist who will give you a short briefing about the park, share the day to day activities, understand your interests and what you hope to experience during your time in the jungles of India. If you are into photography, birding, culture & community, or simply want to experience the silence of the forest, your guide will tailor the safaris around you.
Day 2: Continued
- As you enter the park during the heat of day, it may seem quite at first, but it important to get deep into the jungle, scan the water holes which are hotspot for birds and herbivores, and as the temperatures begin to dip, chances of big cat activity increase. During the drive, your guide will share insights into the history of the park, identify key trees and plants, and help you spot and interpret wildlife behaviour. You will also learn to read the forest through tracks and signs, and understand the subtle language of alarm calls and distress signals that reveal the presence of predators nearby. Throughout your safaris, be sure to communicate your needs and preferences to your guide and ask them as many questions as you can.
- The evening safari ends at sunset and you drive back to your lodge reminiscing the day – because every safari leaves behind a memory that lasts much longer than the sightings themselves.
- Enjoy the warmth of a fire as you meet like minded travelers in the camp/lodge and share stories of they day followed by a chef crafted dinner.
- Shortly after, venture out on your first safari in Satpura National Park. The park has a unique access – you take a short drive from the lodge to the parkβs ticket counter next to which a jetty and boat await for you. A quick boat ride across the river, and you arrive at the park gates where you begin your Game Drive alongside your naturalist and an appointed Forest Department Guide.
Β
Day 3: Morning Game Drive & Afternoon Boat Safari in Satpura National Park
- Begin your morning with a very early wake up call – about an hour before sunrise. Followed by a warm cup of tea or coffee along with cookies and fruits before setting out for your morning game drive. As the forest awakens with the calls of birds and the first light of the sun filters through the hills and valleys, your naturalist will help you interpret the landscape, identify wildlife, and understand the subtle signs that reveal the stories of the forest. During the drive, you will also experience a bonnet-top picnic breakfast in the park along with hot tea and coffee.
- Back to the lodge by noon, have some time to relax, unwind and have a leisurely lunch.
- In the afternoon, experience Satpura from a different perspective with a peaceful boat safari along the river, lasting approximately two hours. The calm waters and surrounding forests make this an exceptional experience for birding, with opportunities to spot species such as Osprey, Grey-headed Fish Eagle, River Tern, Painted Stork, Pratincoles, and many more. Also keep an eye out for wildlife coming to the waterβs edge, including deer, monkeys, gaur, and crocodiles resting along the banks. This slower-paced experience offers a unique way to connect with the wilderness beyond the traditional jeep safari.
Day 4: Walking Safari + Transfer by boat and car to Bori
- Begin your morning with a guided walking safari through the wilderness of Satpuraβs buffer. Accompanied by an expert naturalist, explore the forest on foot and experience the details that are often missed from a vehicle: animal tracks on the forest floor, bird calls from the canopy, unique plants, insects, and the subtle signs that reveal the presence of wildlife nearby.Walking through the rugged terrain of the Satpura landscape offers a deeper connection with the forest, allowing you to experience its sights, sounds, and rhythms at a slower pace. Your guide will share insights into the ecology of the reserve, animal behaviour, and the fascinating relationships that sustain this ancient wilderness. The alk will be light and last for about 1.5-2 hours.
- Return to the lodge after your morning exploration for breakfast followed by some time to pack your belongings before your transfer
- Boat transfer (1.5-2-hrs) to the Tawa Reservoir followed by a 1-hr drive to Bori Safari Lodge.
- Check in by lunch and have some time to relax in your spacious rooms.
- In the evening, head out for your first game drive in the Bori side of Satpura. The safaris here are focused on tracking different animals, especially tigers, leopards and sloth bears. Throughout your safaris, be sure to communicate your needs and preferences to your guide so they can tailor the drive to your liking.
- Back to the lodge shortly after sunset.
Day 5&6: Morning & Evening Safaris in Bori Wildlife Sanctuary
- Begin your days with a very early wake up call – about an hour before sunrise. Followed by a warm cup of tea or coffee along with cookies and fruits before setting out for your morning safari – departing slightly ahead of the national park timings to ensure you are among the first vehicles entering the park gates.
- Safaris here follow the same rhythm as on the other side of Satpura. You will have a picnic breakfast while on safari, and be back from the drive by 11:30 AM. In the afternoon you leave for the drive around 3:30 PM, returning shortly after sunset.
- You can chose to replace any safari with a slower experience such as a nature walk, village & community visit, temple visit or simply to relax and unwind.
Day 7: Farewell to the Jungles of Central India
- Enjoy a hot breakfast at your camp/lodge, soaking in the final hours of your time in the jungles of India. Bid farewell to your safari family at the lodge and depart for Bhopal Airport (3.5 hrs) for a flight back to New Delhi (1 hr).
- At the airport exit you will be met by a chauffeur and transferred to your hotel for a restful night before your onward international journey.
Day 8: International Departure
- After enjoying a hearty breakfast at your hotel, transfer to the New Delhi International Airport. Our team will update you about the transfer timings & driver details based on your flight timings. Standard check out time of the hotel is 11:00 AM and late check out are subject to availability.
- End of trip. (Or perhaps just the beginning.) We strongly recommend booking your next safari with us before the withdrawal symptoms begin.
