Day - Wise Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrival in Delhi
Upon arrival at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, you will be transferred to your hotel in a private vehicle. Check into your rooms where you will have time to relax and recover from your international journey. The remainder of the day is at leisure, allowing you to enjoy the hotel’s facilities or simply unwind before your Indian adventure begins.
Day 2 - The Two Faces of Delhi
After breakfast, discover the grand avenues of New Delhi
Designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens during the British Raj, New Delhi is a showcase of grand imperial architecture and elegant ceremonial boulevards. Drive past the iconic Rashtrapati Bhavan, Parliament House, India Gate and Kartavya Path as your private cultural specialist brings the city to life through captivating stories of India’s ancient civilisations, Mughal splendour, colonial legacy and emergence as the world’s largest democracy, while offering fascinating insight into its diverse cultures, religions and traditions.
Post Lunch, step into the timeless and chaotic world of Old Delhi, where the grandeur of the Mughal Empire lingers amidst lively markets, historic mosques, and labyrinthine streets. As you wander through its vibrant bazaars, your cultural specialist will bring the city to life through captivating stories of emperors, merchants, faith, and daily life, revealing how centuries-old traditions continue to shape one of India’s most bustling areas.
Day 3 - Delhi to Varanasi
This morning, board your flight to Varanasi, approximately 1 hour 30 minutes, Indiaβs oldest living city and the spiritual heart of Hinduism. On arrival, transfer to your hotel and settle into your surroundings near the sacred Ganges.
Varanasi is among the worldβs oldest continuously inhabited cities. Life here is shaped entirely by the river, from daily rituals and pilgrimage to the cycle of birth and farewell along its ghats.
As evening falls, accompany your cultural specialist guide to the ghats of the Ganges for the Ganga Aarti. Watch priests perform this centuries-old ritual with fire, chants and devotional music while your expert guide explains its symbolism and spiritual significance. It is one of Indiaβs most powerful cultural experiences.
Day 4 - The Sacred City of Varanasi
Mornings in Varanasi begin early as the first light touches the Ganges and the riverfront slowly comes to life. Set out on a serene sunrise boat cruise, widely regarded as the most atmospheric way to experience the city. Watch pilgrims gather for morning prayers, priests perform ancient rituals and daily life unfold along the ghats. Your cultural specialist will interpret these centuries-old traditions along with the chants of sadhus that carry across the river.
Later, explore the cityβs labyrinthine lanes before visiting the burning ghats. Manikarnika Ghat is among the oldest continuously operating cremation grounds in the world. It is here that final rites are performed around the clock as part of the Hindu belief in moksha, the liberation of the soul from the cycle of rebirth. Return to your hotel after the visit.
Days 5 - Varanasi at Leisure
Varanasi is a city of constant movement, yet it reveals a quieter rhythm to those who choose to slow down. Today, experience Varanasi at your own pace.
Those wishing to explore further may accompany their cultural specialist on a deeper discovery of the cityβs historic temples, hidden courtyards and bustling markets. Gain insight into Hindu philosophy, local traditions and the rhythms of daily life along the Ganges.
Alternatively, simply relax at your hotel and absorb the atmosphere of this timeless riverside city before your journey continues into the wilderness of central India
Day 6 - Varanasi to Jabalpur
Leave behind the ghats of Varanasi this morning as you fly to Jabalpur via Delhi, approximately 1 hour 30 minutes each sector. The journey carries you from the sacred banks of the Ganges to the forested heart of central India.
On arrival in Jabalpur, transfer to your hotel and spend the remainder of the day at leisure. Settle in and prepare for your upcoming safari experience in Bandhavgarh National Park
Days 7 - Jabalpur to Bandhavgarh
After a leisurely breakfast, meet your Safari Director and depart for Bandhavgarh National Park, a drive of approximately 3.5 hours (around 170 km) through the forested landscapes and rural heartlands of Madhya Pradesh.
On arrival, enjoy a refreshing welcome drink and check into your rooms. The afternoon is at leisure to unwind and settle into the rhythm of the forest.
Later in the day, join a guided nature walk or visit a nearby community to gain an introduction to the local community and the landscape that surrounds the park
Day 8 & 9 & 10 - Bandhavgarh National Park
Rise early for a refreshing cup of coffee before embarking on a thrilling morning safari. Watch your guide expertly navigate the jungle roads and show how to identify tracks & signs, spot animals, understand their behavior, and capture stunning photographs. Gain fascinating insights into the lives of tigers, leopards, bears and more. During the drives you will stop for a picnic breakfast with fresh coffee & tea. This is a great time to ask your guide to share some of their most epic encounters with wildlife. Back to the lodge by noon.Β
Afternoons bring wholesome, authentic, 3-course meals, and an opportunity for some much-needed rest before you leave for the evening safari which ends at sunset β with beautiful pink skies, and the slow rising moon. Back to the lodge by 7 pm. Drinks and dinner by the fire and under a thousand stars. (On any of the days, you may choose to skip a safari and opt for a nature walk, visit to the village or local temples, or simply relax at the lodge)
Days 11 - Bandhavgarh to Departure
After breakfast, depart Bandhavgarh and drive to Jabalpur (approximately 4 hours / 173 km), travelling once again through the forested landscapes and rural heartlands of Madhya Pradesh.
Transfer to Jabalpur Airport for your flight to Delhi (approximately 1 hour 30 minutes), where you will connect with your onward international departure.
