Wildlife

Gir National Park is a wildlife paradise and the only home to the majestic Asiatic lion. With over 600 lions and a thriving population of leopards, hyenas, and jackals, it offers an exhilarating safari experience. The park’s diverse landscape of forests, grasslands, and rivers supports rich biodiversity, including 300+ bird species like the Indian vulture and crested serpent eagle. Spotted deer, nilgai, crocodiles, and the rare four-horned antelope also roam freely here. At Ameliya Safaris, we offer exclusive journeys into Gir’s wild heart, where every moment is a glimpse into nature’s untamed beauty and raw wilderness.

Vegetation

Gir National Park boasts a rich and diverse vegetation that supports its thriving wildlife. The landscape is dominated by dry deciduous forests, with teak, dhak (flame of the forest), tendu, and jamun trees covering vast stretches. Interspersed with grasslands, scrublands, and rocky hills, the park provides the perfect habitat for Asiatic lions, leopards, and herbivores like sambar and chital deer.

Seasonal rivers and water bodies, including the Hiran, Shetrunji, and Datardi rivers, sustain the park’s ecosystem, while evergreen species like banyan and acacia add to its biodiversity. This unique blend of vegetation makes Gir a vibrant and self-sustaining wildlife sanctuary.
