Conservation efforts over the years have helped protect Singalilaβs fragile ecosystem, allowing Red Pandas to thrive alongside Himalayan Black Bears, Barking Deer, Yellow-throated Martens, and a remarkable diversity of birdlife. Beyond its wildlife, the park offers spectacular views of the eastern Himalayas, including Kanchenjunga and, on clear days, even Mount Everest.

Habitat & Landscape
The Eastern Himalayas are a realm of mist-covered ridgelines, ancient cloud forests, and vibrant rhododendron woodlands. Home to some of the most spectacular mountain scenery in Asia, the landscape is characterised by rolling hills, deep valleys, bamboo forests, and panoramic views of the Kanchenjunga massif. As the clouds drift through the forests, they create a magical environment rich in biodiversity and natural beauty. This unique blend of temperate forests, alpine habitats, and Himalayan wilderness makes Singalila one of the finest destinations for Red Panda tracking and high-altitude wildlife exploration in the Himalayas
Birding
Singalila is one of the Eastern Himalayas’ most rewarding birding destinations, with over 300 recorded species spread across its bamboo thickets, rhododendron forests, and high ridgeline meadows. The park is renowned for its Himalayan pheasants, including the Satyr Tragopan, Blood Pheasant, and Kalij Pheasant, alongside sought-after specialities such as the Fire-tailed Myzornis, Golden-breasted Fulvetta, and Scarlet Finch. Mixed feeding flocks of laughingthrushes, yuhinas, and rosefinches move through the forest canopy, while sunbirds flash between flowering rhododendrons in spring. This range of altitude and habitat makes Singalila an exceptional destination for birdwatching along the India-Nepal border in the Himalayas.
